Hello Music-Score Blog Readers!
This week Anne has added five new arrangements to music-scores.com which includes Shenandoah Sheet Music.
- Shenandoah is an American Folk Song that was maybe sung as a logging song or by the fur traders as they canoed down the Missouri river. The fur traders were mostly Canadian and US voyagers and you can imagine them singing this lovely song as they glided down the river. They say it may have been the song of a fur trader who was in love with the daughter of a Native American chief named Shenandoah. (There’s always someone who will add the romantic option!)
It later became a sea shanty, being the perfect tempo to sing whilst hauling in the anchor.
- The song has also been performed by many major pop artists including Bruce Springsteen and Van Morrison to name a few. Why not take a look at this You Tube video by Bruce Springsteen if you are not familiar with this lovely song..
