This week we have 25 new arrangements on the site (18 arrangements of Paradis MT: Siciliano, 6 arrangements of Faure: Op.7 No.1: Apres un Reve and Schubert’s Ave Maria for the Cello & Piano).
All three pieces were played at the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on 19th May in St Georges Chapel at Windsor Castle in the UK. They were played by the incredibly talented cellist, the 19 year old Sheku Kanneh-Mason. Sheku was the first black musician to win the BBC Young Musician of the Year award in 2016 and is now studying full-time at the Royal Academy of Music.
He started playing the Cello when he was six years old and at the age of nine he passed his grade 8 cello examination with the highest marks in the UK – leading to a junior scholarship at the Junior Royal Academy of Music.
He is an inspiration of what can be achieved to all young musicians.
This is an extract from his performance.
